Strength's perspective is a theory utilized in the social work profession. The basis of this theory assumes that all human beings are resilient in the face of adversities, and have the inner/emotional resources as well as external resources to change the way they feel. It is the social workers job to facilitate the client in the process of discovering these realities for themselves. The relevance of this theory to the social work profession is apparent. Viewing clients, communities, neighborhoods, countries, and humanity through the lens of strength's perspective allows social workers to instill a sense of hope in whoever and whatever they are trying to help. Instead of viewing a system in a deterministic or reductionistic way, that results in limiting the capacity for change, social workers seek to view everything through this positive, adaptable, and hopeful way. I think this is the reason why people seek out social workers instead of other helping professionals.
